A well-known shopping center in North Dallas has begun a $5 million renovation project. This is the largest renovation at the Plaza at Preston Center in over a decade. The shopping center is located at the corner of Preston Road and Northwest Highway in University Park. The renovation will happen in phases throughout this year. It aims to refresh almost every building in the center. Plans include new paint, a new color scheme, brick pavers on sidewalks, and new trellises. The project comes as the Plaza celebrates its 75th anniversary. Amanda Throckmorton Welles, a partner at Venture Commercial, which manages the property, expressed pride in the center’s history. She mentioned that it has been an important part of the University Park and Preston Hollow communities for many years. Welles added that they are excited to bring new concepts and local favorites to shoppers and diners. While the renovation is underway, visitors can expect to see scaffolding and some changes to parking. The entire project is anticipated to be completed by early 2026. This year is also set to bring new businesses to the shopping center. High-end fashion brand Trina Turk will move in from West Village. A new restaurant, Frenchie, is scheduled to open this spring. Women’s boutique Y-OHR is set to open in May, and med spa Viva Day Spa will open in September.
