North Hills Drama Club presents 'Alice by Heart' musical
The North Hills High School Drama Club is ready to showcase its spring musical, “Alice by Heart,” over the next two weekends. Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on March 21-22 and 27-29, with a matinee at 1:30 p.m. on March 23. Tickets are priced at $12 for adults and $7 for students and senior citizens. They can be bought online at nhchoiranddrama.net. The musical will take place in the high school auditorium, located at 53 Rochester Road in Ross. “Alice by Heart” is created by Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik, known for the award-winning musical “Spring Awakening.” Jessie Nelson, co-writer of “Waitress,” also contributed to this production. The story is inspired by “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.” Set during the London Blitz of World War II, the musical follows Alice Spencer, a young girl whose life changes dramatically. Along with her friend Alfred, she takes shelter in an underground tube station. When Alfred becomes ill, Alice hopes to escape with him into their beloved book and journey to Wonderland. The show touches on themes of first love, dealing with loss, and finding the strength to move forward.
