North Huntingdon parks receiving $100,000 in upgrades
North Huntingdon is planning improvements for its parks this spring, with over $100,000 allocated for upgrades. The enhancements include new trash cans, drinking fountains, and playground equipment. The township recently awarded a contract for 66 new trash cans worth $52,904 to Tree Top Products. Of these, 40 cans will be placed at Oak Hollow Park and 26 at Indian Lake Park. Specifically, Oak Hollow will receive 24 32-gallon and 16 55-gallon trash cans. Indian Lake Park will get 16 32-gallon and 10 55-gallon containers. Delivery of the new trash cans is expected in early April. Additionally, a contract for $17,515 was awarded to Global Industrial Co. for seven drinking fountains. Five will be installed at Oak Hollow Park, and two will go to Indian Lake Park. While the fountains have arrived, they are not yet installed. The township also approved a $36,705 contract for new playground equipment from Outdoor Escapes Co. This equipment will mainly consist of swings and swing sets to replace older models. Furthermore, North Huntingdon secured a $35,500 grant from the state's Commonwealth Financing Authority. This funding will be used to buy security cameras for both parks, with the money coming from state-licensed casino revenues according to state Representative Eric Davanzo.
