North Korea launches seven short-range missiles in response to US and allied military drills
North Korea has launched at least seven short-range ballistic missiles off its east coast, according to Japan's defense minister. The missiles flew to an altitude of 100 kilometers and landed just outside Japan's exclusive economic zone.
The missile tests occurred shortly after North Korea criticized military drills involving the United States, Japan, and South Korea. The launches follow North Korea's recent test of a new intercontinental ballistic missile.
Additionally, over 10,000 North Korean troops are reported to be in Russia, supporting its military efforts in Ukraine. South Korea's defense ministry confirmed that many of these troops have moved to frontline areas.
