North Korea launches short-range missiles and criticizes joint military drills
North Korea launched at least seven short-range ballistic missiles off its east coast on Tuesday. The missiles reached an altitude of 100 km and traveled 400 km before landing in the ocean, outside Japan's exclusive economic zone.
The missile tests followed North Korea's criticism of joint military drills involving the U.S., Japan, and South Korea. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's sister condemned these exercises, claiming they justify North Korea's nuclear enhancements.
This launch comes after North Korea tested a new intercontinental ballistic missile last week and coincides with the U.S. presidential election. The U.S. is closely monitoring the situation and consulting with regional allies.
