North Ridgeville to install EV stations, repair roads

North Ridgeville is set to see road repairs and new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in the coming weeks. The city’s Engineering Department is preparing for a busy period that will impact daily commutes and drives. Road work will start soon on Luanne Drive, Monica Drive, and Caroline Drive. Crews will perform general repairs and seal cracks on these roads. City Engineer Christina Eavenson emphasized that repairing 50 catch basins is a top priority. These catch basins help manage storm water and flooding. The city plans to fix or replace damaged structures, including those made of brick that are older than current standards. In addition to catch basin repairs, the city will focus on concrete pavement rehabilitation. This work will involve fixing older concrete roads by addressing breakages and joint issues. Eavenson noted that this approach is cost-effective, as it improves ride quality while preventing water damage. North Ridgeville will also install two new EV charging stations. One station will be at the Senior Center and the other at City Hall. These installations are funded by NOACA as part of a regional program aimed at increasing public charging options. One station will have two ports, while the other will feature fast charging capabilities. These chargers will accept credit cards, and the city hopes to at least cover their electricity costs through user fees. Final adjustments to pricing and payment methods are currently underway.
