Norwich apartment fire displaces 10, one hospitalized

A fire in an apartment building in Norwich, Connecticut, displaced ten people and sent one man to the hospital on Monday. The fire started in the kitchen of a third-floor unit around 2:30 p.m. Emergency crews quickly arrived and found smoke coming from the apartment. Fortunately, the fire was contained and extinguished by a sprinkler system, according to the Norwich Fire Department. The man, who was located near the kitchen, suffered from smoke inhalation. Firefighters helped him out of the building, and he was taken to Backus Hospital for treatment. The fire caused significant water damage due to the sprinkler system, leading to the displacement of ten residents. The American Red Cross is providing assistance to those affected.
