Notre-Dame Cathedral to reopen this weekend after five-year restoration
Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris will reopen this weekend after over five years of reconstruction following a devastating fire in April 2019. The fire destroyed much of the roof and interior, but restoration efforts involved around 2,000 workers and significant funding from donors worldwide. A high-profile reopening ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, attended by numerous dignitaries, including US President-elect Donald Trump. The event will feature prayers, music, and a formal blessing by Paris Archbishop Laurent Ulrich. Public access to the cathedral will begin on Sunday with an inaugural Mass. Free tickets for additional Masses will be available for the following days, allowing visitors to experience the restored site.
