A fire at a substation near Nottingham has left many homes without electricity. Firefighters have been working on the scene since 4 PM on Sunday, March 23. Nearly 400 homes lost power, but about 193 have had electricity restored. However, 183 homes may remain without power until around 9 PM. Fire crews responded quickly and urged people to avoid the area. Residents nearby were advised to keep windows and doors closed due to smoke from the fire. A small fire was reported at the substation on Albert Road in West Bridgford. The fire service confirmed that the blaze has been extinguished, but a significant smoke plume remained. Although the fire is out, the area is still blocked off as National Grid teams work on restoring power to the affected homes. An eyewitness described the scene, noting that the substation was completely destroyed. However, nearby Bridgford Park remains open. A spokesperson for National Grid thanked the local community for their patience and assured them that efforts are being made to restore electricity to around 200 customers.
