NParks opens 350 new gardening plots in Singapore
SINGAPORE – More than 350 gardening plots are now available for Singapore residents who want to grow their own edible plants. The National Parks Board (NParks) announced this on March 18. The new plots are part of the Allotment Gardening Scheme, which started in 2016. This initiative allows people to rent space in parks and gardens to cultivate their plants. Applications for the plots can be made from 10 a.m. on March 19 until 11:59 p.m. on April 1. The new gardening sites include popular locations such as East Coast Park and Jurong Central Park. The most plots are available at Jurong Lake Gardens, Punggol Park, and Ang Mo Kio Town Garden West. Each plot costs $62.13 per year and measures 2.5 meters by 1 meter. Each one comes with soil, a raised planter bed, and a small storage area for tools. Applications will use a computerized ballot system through AXS channels, including e-Stations and kiosks. So far, there are over 2,400 allotment gardening plots across 28 parks and gardens in Singapore. Since 2021, NParks has worked to make the gardening initiative more accessible by adding plots closer to residential areas. The next round of applications is expected in the fourth quarter of 2025.
