NPCL revives pond in Greater Noida for water conservation
Noida Power Company Limited (NPCL) has launched a project to restore a defunct pond in Greater Noida West. This initiative comes as part of their corporate social responsibility program called ‘Project Sanjeevani,’ which coincides with World Water Day. The pond covers an area of one acre and aims to improve groundwater recharge. Once the restoration is complete, it is expected to conserve about 4.1 million litres of water each year based on the area's average rainfall. Alongside the pond restoration, NPCL employees, including the MD & CEO PR Kumar, participated in planting 1,500 trees around the pond. This effort, in partnership with the SAFE NGO, aims to create a biodiversity park and is projected to help reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 20-30 tons annually. A spokesperson for NPCL highlighted the company's commitment to water conservation, afforestation, and climate action. This project is part of NPCL’s larger efforts to have a positive impact on the environment and the community.
