NPP concedes defeat to NDC in Ghana's presidential election
The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ghana has conceded defeat to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 presidential election. Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia announced the concession on December 8, one day after the elections. Bawumia congratulated NDC candidate John Mahama, who claimed an early lead based on provisional results. The official results from the Electoral Commission are still pending. The NDC's early victory claim was made during a press conference, while Bawumia's concession came before the official declaration. The Electoral Commission is expected to announce the final results soon.
