NSG commandos conduct emergency drill at Mayawati's residence
On Tuesday, a surprising scene unfolded at the residence of Bahujan Samaj Party leader Mayawati in Lucknow. National Security Guard (NSG) commandos arrived, along with an ambulance that had its sirens on. The unexpected activity raised eyebrows among onlookers and political observers. Mayawati's house, located at 9 Mall Avenue, is under constant high-security surveillance. The sudden presence of NSG commandos and ambulance personnel created a buzz, especially amid ongoing reports of internal issues within the BSP and plans for a reshuffle of party responsibilities. Police and medical teams were stationed both inside and outside the residence, amplifying the mystery surrounding the event. Speculation about the purpose of the operation grew, but it was later confirmed that this was a routine security drill by the NSG. The goal was to assess their readiness for handling potential emergencies. During the drill, NSG commandos worked alongside local police and fire department personnel. They simulated an emergency situation to evaluate the response time and coordination of security forces in case of a crisis involving a high-profile leader. Mayawati is among a few leaders in Uttar Pradesh who receive NSG protection, along with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Given the current political tensions within the BSP, the timing of the drill has led to questions about its necessity. Once the exercise was completed, NSG personnel were seen leaving, marking the end of the operation.
