Nuh initiates project to reduce student anaemia rates

timesofindia.indiatimes.com

The Ayush department has started a new program in Nuh to combat malnutrition among students. This effort follows a health survey that found 15-20% of students are anaemic and underweight. The survey assessed the health of over 10,000 children in government schools. To improve children's health, the education department is promoting iron-rich foods and balanced diets. Teachers have been trained as health ambassadors to teach students about the importance of good nutrition. According to Dr. Yashbir Gehlawat from the district Ayush department, anaemia is a serious problem in the area, especially among women and children. He said that economic struggles and limited access to healthy foods contribute to this issue. The Ayurvidya Yojana was launched in January 2024 to perform health checkups in government schools. Between July 2024 and February 2025, checkups were done on 5,570 students, revealing that 26.4% were anaemic and many were underweight. Kusum Malik from the district’s Nipun mission noted that students have received folic acid tablets as part of the health initiative. The program aims to improve the overall health and nutrition of children in Nuh.
