NVIDIA partners to develop AI-native 6G networks

NVIDIA has announced new partnerships with major companies including T-Mobile, MITRE, Cisco, ODC, and Booz Allen Hamilton. They aim to develop advanced wireless networks for the upcoming 6G technology, focusing on integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into the network systems. These AI-native networks are designed to connect a vast number of devices, like smartphones, sensors, and autonomous vehicles. This integration will help improve the speed and efficiency of data transmission, delivering better services to millions of users. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang emphasized the importance of incorporating AI from the beginning to maximize the network's potential. The collaboration seeks to create a new network structure using NVIDIA's AI Aerial platform. This will allow for the combination of AI and radio access network (RAN) capabilities on a single platform. The goal is to enhance network performance and reduce operational costs while ensuring security and allowing rapid innovation. T-Mobile will expand its existing work with NVIDIA to further explore AI-native 6G technologies. T-Mobile CEO Mike Sievert highlighted the collaboration as a significant step toward improving the capability and performance expected in the next generation of wireless experiences. MITRE, a research organization, will invest in developing AI-driven services for the new network. Its CEO Mark Peters noted that this effort will help address various challenges, such as improving service delivery and managing spectrum availability. Cisco plans to lead in mobile core technology for this project. Its CEO Chuck Robbins stated that collaboration is essential to build secure and effective AI-native networks as 6G approaches. ODC will contribute to the project by providing advanced software technologies that smooth the transition from existing 5G networks to the new 6G. ODC's chairman highlighted the role of AI in transforming connectivity. Booz Allen will be responsible for developing AI algorithms and enhancing cybersecurity for the 6G platform. Its CEO, Horacio Rozanski, remarked that AI will be central to future communications and that their technologies will help secure these new networks. These partnerships build on NVIDIA’s existing research initiatives. The company has introduced several new tools and resources to support the development of AI-native wireless technologies. They are collaborating with a large network of industry and academic organizations to drive innovation in 6G and AI technologies. The announcement was made during NVIDIA's event, which runs until March 21.
