Nvidia rebrands supercomputer, raises price by 33%
Nvidia has rebranded its small AI supercomputer, originally called Project Digits, to DGX Spark. The price for this device has increased by 33% from $3,000 to $3,999. This tiny supercomputer has been designed to bring advanced AI capabilities directly to desktops. DGX Spark is built on the GB10 Grace Blackwell Superchip. It offers impressive performance, delivering one thousand trillion operations per second. It can support AI models with up to 200 billion parameters. This makes it suitable for tasks like fine-tuning and prototyping complex AI systems without relying on external servers. Nvidia's CEO, Jensen Huang, spoke about the significance of these personal AI computers. He believes they will help run AI applications on a smaller scale, benefiting developers and researchers. Other companies like Dell, HPE, and Asus are also entering the market with their own AI systems based on Nvidia's technology. For example, Dell’s new Pro Max system and HP’s ZGX Nano AI Station are designed for developers who want powerful computing without needing full server setups. Asus has announced its own device, the Ascent GX10, which is listed at $2,999 and includes 1TB of storage. More details about these competitors are expected soon.
