Nvidia's RTX 5090 features largest GPU die since 2018 with significant performance boost
Nvidia's upcoming GeForce RTX 5090 will feature a new graphics processor, the GB202, with a die size of 24mm x 31mm. This die is 22% larger than the RTX 4090's and is the largest since the RTX 2080 Ti in 2018. Despite the larger GPU, the RTX 5090 will have a smaller overall design than the 4090, using a two-slot cooler instead of a triple-slot. It is expected to deliver a 70% performance boost, with 21,760 CUDA cores and 32GB of GDDR7 VRAM. The RTX 5090, along with the RTX 5080 and 5070 Ti, is set to be unveiled at CES in January. AMD and Intel are also expected to announce new graphics cards at the same event.
