NYPD cop arrested for using fake license plate

An off-duty New York Police Department detective was arrested for driving a car with a fake license plate. Detective Eric Blake was stopped by police around 10:45 p.m. on Thursday in Queens. Officers noticed the license plate was obscured and decided to investigate. During their inquiry, police discovered that the license plate was not real. They also found out that Blake’s car was unregistered and uninsured. Additionally, he was driving with a suspended license. Blake, who has worked for the NYPD for 20 years, faces multiple charges. These include official misconduct, offering a false instrument, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle. He also faces charges for driving without insurance and using a fake license plate. His arraignment in Queens Criminal Court is set for Friday. Blake has made 249 felony arrests in his career and has received six commendations for Excellent Police Duty.
