NYPD seeks suspect who stabbed deli worker in East Harlem

Police are searching for a man who stabbed a deli worker in East Harlem on Wednesday morning. The victim was hurt during a robbery attempt at the Food Market deli, located near 3rd Avenue and E. 116th Street. Surveillance footage shows the suspect entering the deli and lingering before asking the worker for money. After stepping out of view, he returned with a knife and began arguing with the clerk. Eyewitnesses say he then stabbed the 24-year-old victim in the neck. Despite his injury, the deli worker ran after the attacker, applying pressure to his wound with his shirt. He was later taken to a local hospital and is expected to recover. The suspect is reportedly a known homeless man who has previously tried to steal from the deli. Community leaders are calling for stronger measures to prevent such violent incidents. As of now, the suspect has not been caught and the investigation is ongoing.
