Odisha reports over 2,700 road misconduct cases
In Odisha, over 2,700 cases of misconduct against women were reported on roads in the past four years, with Bhubaneswar having the highest number at 1,341 incidents. Most cases involved eve-teasing and molestation. Sambalpur and Nuapada followed with 453 and 310 cases, respectively. However, 18 police districts reported no incidents during this period. Misconduct often occurred during late evening hours, with suspects typically arrested after complaints. The chief minister's report also noted 5,668 highway thefts and robberies. The government plans to enhance safety measures, including increased night patrols and improved CCTV coverage on roads.
