Off-duty firefighters rescue trapped driver near Sweet Home
Two off-duty firefighters rescued a person whose car crashed into a river near Sweet Home, Oregon. The accident happened on Highway 20 close to Yukwah Campground. The car fell about 30 feet down an embankment, hit a tree, and landed in the water. When the firefighters arrived, the person inside the car was trapped, with water reaching up to their head. The firefighters quickly assessed the situation and took action. They were able to free the individual from the vehicle, thanks to their training. Emergency crews used a rope system to bring the person back up to the road safely. Fortunately, the person had non-critical injuries and was taken to a hospital for evaluation. The current condition of the individual is not known. In total, around nine other off-duty firefighters from Sweet Home joined the rescue efforts alongside the initial responders. The Sweet Home Fire District praised the actions of the off-duty firefighters for making a difference in saving the victim's life.
