Officials claim YSRCP misappropriated infrastructure development funds
Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav has claimed that the previous YSRCP government misused funds designated for capital infrastructure development. He stated this has led to a decrease in the Andhra Pradesh government's borrowing limit by ₹7,600 crore. Keshav explained that the NDA government has been working for the past nine months to resolve these financial issues. They have been providing verified financial reports to the Central government and requesting to restore their borrowing capacity. He pointed out that the misuse of funds occurred under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Infrastructure (SASCI) Scheme. The current government, led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, has taken steps to address the problem. Following these measures, the Central government approved ₹2,000 crore after the updated financial accounts were submitted. Keshav mentioned that the state will provide further details regarding an additional ₹1,600 crore, as requested by the Central government. Under the SASCI scheme, the YSRCP government allocated only ₹4,000 crore for infrastructure last year. In contrast, the NDA government has invested over ₹7,000 crore in just nine months.
