OFW Center opening at Mactan-Cebu Airport in 2025
The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) is opening an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) Center at Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA). This center is a collaboration with Aboitiz InfraCapital Cebu Airport Corporation and Cebu Pacific. The OFW Center aims to provide important services to OFWs and their families who are traveling through Cebu. Secretary Cacdac emphasized that the center is dedicated to supporting these workers, calling them "modern-day heroes." The center will be a one-stop hub for various DMW services. It will help with the verification of important travel documents like the Overseas Employment Certificate and provide assistance for both departing and arriving workers. Construction of the center will start this month under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP). Cebu Pacific is contributing funding, while Aboitiz InfraCapital is providing the space in Terminal 2 at no cost for five years. Operations at the OFW Center are expected to begin in the second quarter of this year. MCIAA General Manager Julius G. Neri stated that they are focused on enhancing the passenger experience and adapting the facility to meet growing needs. MCIA is one of the busiest airports in the country, connecting to many international destinations.
