Ohio State Mansfield honors three distinguished alumni
Ohio State University at Mansfield will honor three alumni at the Alumni Hall of Fame Awards on Tuesday. The event will take place at 5:30 p.m. at 1285 Winery in Mansfield. The honorees include Carrie Rietschlin Kemerer, Steven Oster, and Bertha Villa Bishop. Kemerer graduated in 2001 with a degree in Psychology. She is the executive director of The Shelby Foundation and has led fundraising efforts for local nonprofits. Kemerer is also active in the Community Improvement Corporation and the Rotary Club. Steven Oster earned a Master of Arts in Public Policy and Management in 2000. He is the superintendent for the Knox and Coshocton County Boards of Developmental Disabilities and has worked in various leadership roles in similar organizations. Oster has received awards for his advocacy work, including the Ron Kozlowski Award, and he played a key role in creating Harmony Park, an inclusive playground. Bertha Villa Bishop graduated in 2011 with a degree in History and is a well-known photographer in Mansfield. Originally from Colombia, she started her photography career while studying journalism. After teaching Spanish, she focused on her photography business and gained certification as a professional photographer. Bishop is active in community service and leads the OSU Alumni Club of Richland County. Cindy Wood, the Development Director at Ohio State Mansfield, stated that the awards recognize alumni who significantly contribute to their communities.
