Ohio Turnpike director retires, then is rehired

Ferzan Ahmed, the executive director of the Ohio Turnpike Commission, retired and was immediately rehired during a commission meeting on Monday. This allows him to start receiving pension payments while continuing his role. Ahmed has led the Turnpike since 2019 and will maintain his annual salary of $194,744. The commission expressed satisfaction with his leadership and decision to keep him on staff. Before joining the Turnpike, Ahmed worked with the Ohio Department of Transportation and served as a county administrator. He is also a member of the City Council in Powell, Ohio.
