Ohio woman sentenced to 40 years for fatal tranquilizer attack on estranged husband

An Ohio woman, Amanda Hovanec, was sentenced to 40 years in prison for injecting her estranged husband with a lethal dose of an animal tranquilizer in 2022. The attack was partially recorded on a dash camera. Hovanec pleaded guilty to charges including distributing a controlled substance that resulted in death. Her mother and lover were also charged; her mother received a 10-year sentence, while her lover was sentenced to 18 years. Hovanec admitted to killing her husband to prevent him from seeing their children. She later confessed to burying his body after abandoning his car.
