Ohtani showcases dog-themed cleats in Tokyo Series
Shohei Ohtani returned to the baseball field in Japan, and he wore special cleats to celebrate. The cleats featured his dog, Decoy, which fans loved. Ohtani showed off the shoes after the Los Angeles Dodgers won against the Chicago Cubs, 4-1. His dog's image was stitched on the heel and painted on the bottom of the shoes. Ohtani's wife, Mamiko, also surprised him with treats from a famous restaurant in Japan that serves only one group per day. On the field, Ohtani had a good game, going 2-for-5 at the plate. However, the Cubs managed to prevent him from hitting a home run. This game was significant as it was the first Major League Baseball match in Japan since 2019. Back then, the Oakland Athletics and Seattle Mariners played. Ohtani's dog, Decoy, has gained a lot of attention since he was introduced to the fans. Last year, Decoy even participated in a first pitch ceremony for a special bobblehead night. The Dodgers and Cubs will face each other again on Wednesday morning. Pitchers Justin Steele and Roki Sasaki will take the mound to finish the Tokyo Series.
