Okinawa Pan-Pacific Film Festival announces 2025 lineup with 'Ocean Elegy' and 'Tinā'
The 2025 Okinawa Pan-Pacific Film Festival will open with the documentary "Ocean Elegy," which explores a significant 1870s event in East Asian history. It will close with the Asian premiere of New Zealand's drama "Tinā," about a mother healing through music after a tragedy. The festival features a competitive Pacific Film section with ten films from various countries, including Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan. Notable entries include "River Returns," "Boy in the Pool," and "From Island to Island," each addressing different cultural themes. This year's festival runs from February 22 to March 2 and includes expanded programming, such as a focus on Māori filmmaker Mike Jonathan and a new category for short films. The event aims to connect local filmmakers with international industry professionals.
