One arrested in Lanark ATM theft attempt
A 35-year-old man from Gatineau has been arrested in connection with an attempted theft from an ATM at a bank in Lanark. The incident occurred late Monday night, and the Ontario Provincial Police confirmed the arrest on Tuesday. Officers found the man at the scene after responding to a call about the attempted theft around 11:20 p.m. The suspect has been charged with break-and-enter and is set to appear in court for a bail hearing. Two other suspects managed to escape on foot. Police reported that a door to the bank was forced open and power tools were left behind at the site. Fortunately, it is not believed that any money was stolen during the incident. Authorities are asking the public for help. They want anyone who saw anything unusual in the area or has video footage from that night to contact the Lanark OPP. Those who prefer to remain anonymous can reach out to Crime Stoppers.
