One dead in Clackamas County car crash
One person died in a car crash in Clackamas County on Saturday night. The accident occurred around 11:19 p.m. on Southeast 72nd Avenue. Witnesses reported that a white car missed a turn and drove off the road. When sheriff’s deputies arrived, they found signs of a crash but no car at the initial site. After searching, they discovered the vehicle about half a mile away, completely on fire. Firefighters extinguished the flames and found one person inside the wreckage, who was confirmed dead. Authorities believe that high speed contributed to the crash. The car may have become airborne after leaving the road due to the terrain, hitting the ground in a nearby area.
