One dead in Ventura Inn fire; several injured
A fire at the Ventura Inn in downtown Ventura left one person dead on Sunday morning. The fire started around 9:46 a.m. at 487 E. Main St. Firefighters responded quickly to the scene. They found that 89 of the inn's 90 rooms were occupied at the time. Battalion Chief Shawn Hughes reported that, in addition to the fatality, at least 10 other people were evaluated for smoke inhalation, but none needed to go to the hospital. The cause of the fire is still being investigated. Authorities will provide more updates as they gather more information.
