One dead, two injured cleaning unauthorized Delhi sewer

A 43-year-old man died and two others were injured after inhaling toxic fumes while cleaning a sewer in New Friends Colony, Delhi. The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) stated the workers were not its employees and that the access was unauthorized. The deceased was identified as Panth Lal Chandra, while the injured are Ramkishan Chandra, 35, and Shiv Das, 25. They were rescued by the Delhi Fire Services and taken to a hospital, where Chandra was pronounced dead. The police have opened a case related to culpable homicide and violations of the Manual Scavengers and Their Rehabilitation Act. The DJB has requested police action against those responsible for the incident.
