One in five people felt daily climate change effects
A recent report by Climate Central highlights the serious impact of climate change from December 2024 to February 2025. It shows that human activities, especially the burning of fossil fuels, have greatly increased global temperatures and extreme heat conditions. During this period, one in five people worldwide felt the daily effects of climate change. The report states that nearly 394 million people were exposed to dangerous heat levels for over 30 days. Africa was the most affected continent, with 74% of those facing risky heat living there. The Climate Shift Index (CSI) used in the report measures how climate change influences temperatures. The findings reveal that in half of the 220 countries surveyed, average individuals experienced heat strongly impacted by climate change for at least a month. Furthermore, 287 cities around the world reported similar conditions. Kristina Dahl, Vice President of Science at Climate Central, emphasized that climate change is a current crisis affecting millions. She warned that the growing frequency of extreme heat events will worsen if fossil fuel use continues.
