Hagen discovered the video while browsing Facebook last week. In it, the man drinks from a bottle and uses a leaf blower to start the car's ignition without passing the sobriety test. Hagen reported the video to Meta, but they informed him it did not violate their community standards. Hagen shared his concerns, stating he experienced a traumatic event as a child involving a drunk driver. He believes that such content should not be on social media, especially considering the risks associated with impaired driving. Meta's community standards prohibit content that promotes harmful activities, but the company has not responded to requests for comment on this particular incident. Experts suggest that modern ignition interlocks are designed to prevent tampering, but some individuals still attempt to bypass these devices. Mother Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Canada expressed disappointment over the video's message. They emphasize that ignition interlocks are essential for drivers with impaired driving records. MADD is advocating for stricter laws to further combat impaired driving in Ontario, including an immediate roadside prohibition program. Recent statistics show that impaired driving incidents have decreased over the years, but progress has slowed. Hagen agrees that more needs to be done to address impaired driving, mentioning he often finds empty beer cans on the roadside in his community.
