Open storm water drain endangers pedestrians in Ramapuram

A storm water drain in Ramapuram, Chennai, poses a danger to pedestrians. The drain, located on Kamarajar Salai near the Senthamil Nagar Junction, was left uncovered after its lid was damaged weeks ago. This area is busy with shops and schools, making it important that the drain is safe for everyone. Complaints about the problem have been sent to local officials, but there has been no action taken yet. N. Vishwanathan from the Porur Corporation stated that the cover was removed for maintenance. However, the contractor has not repaired it, and they have been instructed to fix the issue immediately. In a related matter, traffic has been heavy on the bypass road crossing Rajiv Gandhi Salai between Padur and Kelambakkam. This area is known as the Information Technology Corridor, but the heavy rush hour traffic makes it difficult for motorists to pass through. A new bypass road is being built to help with the congestion, but it has not opened yet due to incomplete work. Local residents are urging the authorities to finish the project quickly.
