OpenAI hires Oculus VR hardware chief to lead robotics team

OpenAI has hired Caitlin Kalinowski, former head of hardware at Oculus VR, to lead its robotics and consumer hardware team. This move signals a stronger focus on robotics rather than just AI gadgets. She previously worked on augmented reality glasses at Meta and is now set to explore new hardware possibilities. OpenAI is also collaborating with designer Jony Ive on an undisclosed AI hardware project.
