Operation Garuda targets illegal drug sales in Andhra Pradesh
Andhra Pradesh launched 'Operation Garuda' to combat illegal drug sales. Around 100 teams from various agencies took part in the operation on Friday. They raided medical shops across the state and discovered nearly 40 types of drugs sold without proper prescriptions. The operation was led by top officials, including Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta. Inspectors checked the medical supplies and found many violations. Some drug stores were holding illegal stocks and selling medicines without having prescriptions from doctors. Mr. Ake Ravi Krishna, head of the EAGLE unit, reported that they inspected pharmacies in districts such as Krishna, West Godavari, and Nellore. He stated that serious violations were uncovered during these checks. As a result, cases have been filed against those breaking the law under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. DCA officials noted that some pharmacy owners were also delivering medicines directly to homes without keeping proper records.
