Operative Games launches AI-driven storytelling platform
Operative Games, a new interactive storytelling company, launched today with investment support from 1AM Gaming, Samsung Next, and LongJourney.vc. The company aims to create immersive experiences where players can interact with lifelike AI characters. These characters will help players navigate complex stories and build emotional connections. Jon Snoddy, the former R&D head at Disney, co-founded Operative Games with Jon Kraft and Pegi Bryant, bringing years of experience in entertainment and technology. Their goal is to use their technology, called StoryEngine, to create engaging narratives that resonate emotionally, similar to films and television. The StoryEngine allows game developers to create characters that understand storylines and provide players with meaningful choices. Players can interact with characters through calls, texts, and video chats without needing to download any software. Operative Games introduced its first project, The Operative, at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. In this story, players assist a character named "Enya" in what starts as a simple task but evolves into a spy thriller. The AI characters react to player actions and can express emotions, making interactions feel authentic. The company's future projects will cover various genres and include collaborations with notable Hollywood writers. Operative Games aims to offer personalized storytelling that adapts to each player's choices, creating unique experiences. Snoddy emphasizes that their technology forms genuine relationships while enabling immersive storytelling. The games will evolve as players interact, fostering a bond between players and characters. The company sees great potential not only in gameplay but also in adapting traditional narratives to engage a modern audience. By using AI, the team plans to streamline both design and production processes, making it easier to create detailed game worlds more rapidly. Operative Games is committed to delivering life-like characters and emotional depth in its storytelling, marking a new chapter in interactive entertainment.
