Opposition demands action against Tripura minister's remarks
In Tripura, opposition leader Jitendra Chaudhury has called for action against animal resources development minister Sudhanshu Das. Chaudhury has asked the state's governor to investigate a social media post made by Das. In his Facebook post, Das likened opposition parties, including Congress and the Left, to the historical figure Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. He accused them of promoting violence and fanaticism. This statement has drawn strong criticism from within the governing coalition. Pradyot Kishore Debbarman, the leader of BJP's ally TIPRA Motha, expressed shock at Das's comments, urging government officials to avoid such language. Chaudhury claimed that Das's remarks could incite communal tension and disturb peace. He argued that such statements jeopardize communal harmony and undermine the secular values of the Indian Constitution. Das, on the other hand, defended his comments, insisting that he was simply sharing historical facts. He rejected the claims made by Chaudhury, suggesting that the opposition leader was trying to exploit the situation for political gain.
