Opposition protests rising crime rates in Odisha Assembly
The Odisha Assembly faced disruptions on Monday as opposition members from the BJD and Congress shouted anti-government slogans. They protested against rising crime rates in the state, particularly incidents involving women. Congress MLAs demanded the withdrawal of a suspension for their colleague and created chaos in the assembly. BJD members highlighted an increase in murder cases, especially during Holi, and called for a statement from Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. BJP MLA Irasis Acharya criticized the opposition, claiming they were seeking reasons to interrupt assembly proceedings.
