Oracle collaborates with Singapore for secure cloud platform

breakingdefense.com

Oracle is working with Singapore's Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) to pilot a new secure cloud platform. This platform, called the Oracle Cloud Isolated Region, is designed for the country's ministry of defense and armed forces. The Oracle Cloud Isolated Region is a highly secure, encrypted cloud environment. It operates completely offline, which makes it harder for hackers to access. This platform is capable of handling classified work, including information classified as “Secret.” According to DSTA Chief Executive Ng Chad-Son, the collaboration will help modernize operations in command and communication for the Singapore Armed Forces. He emphasized the growing need for secure cloud solutions that support innovation. Oracle is already known for providing secure cloud services to the Pentagon. It is one of four companies involved in the Pentagon's Joint Warfighting Cloud Capability program. Rand Waldron, Oracle’s vice president for sovereign relations, stated that the company has decades of experience protecting sensitive data. He expressed commitment to supporting Singapore's defense missions. This partnership comes amid increasing tensions between China and Taiwan, which raises concerns about security in the region. Oracle and DSTA did not comment on whether this initiative would deter threats from China as of the publication date.
