Oracle partners with Singapore military for cloud services

timesofindia.indiatimes.com

Oracle has teamed up with Singapore's Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) to provide cloud computing and artificial intelligence services for the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF). This is Oracle's first significant defense agreement in Southeast Asia. The partnership will create a secure cloud infrastructure that is completely offline. This means it will not connect to the internet and will only work with classified networks through encrypted devices. This setup aims to improve the SAF's command and control capabilities, known as C4 functions, making them more scalable, secure, and efficient. Oracle will also supply advanced AI tools to help with data analysis and imagery. These tools can analyze video streams to identify faces, license plates, and vehicle information, which are essential for defense activities. Ng Chad-Son, Chief Executive of DSTA, expressed optimism about the collaboration, stating it will help modernize operations using advanced technologies. Rand Waldron, Oracle's Global Defense CTO, emphasized that their isolated cloud systems bring strong cloud capabilities to highly secure environments. This collaboration aims to advance Singapore's defense capabilities significantly.
