Oregon baseball wins 4-3 against Rutgers with walk-off
No. 9 Oregon baseball defeated Rutgers 4-3 in a dramatic finish. The game ended with a walk-off sacrifice fly hit by Parker Stinson, who came off the bench and had not played this season until now. He drove in Jack Brooks with a short fly ball to left field at PK Park. In the game, Jacob Walsh contributed significantly with a two-run single. Mason Neville also scored with a solo home run for Oregon, which improved its record to 18-4 and 6-1 in the Big Ten. Rutgers, on the other hand, fell to 9-13 and 1-3 in conference play. Rutgers took an early lead in the third inning with an RBI single from Peyton Bonds and an RBI double from Ty Doucette. Neville responded quickly for Oregon, scoring in the same inning. Walsh then gave Oregon the lead in the sixth inning. The game was tied in the seventh. Grayson Grinsell, who pitched well for Oregon, left with two runners on base. A wild pitch allowed Rutgers to tie the game. Grinsell finished with three runs allowed over 6.1 innings, striking out eight. Oregon's relief pitchers held strong in the eighth and ninth innings. In the bottom of the ninth, Walsh was hit by a pitch and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. Maddox Molony then doubled, putting two runners in scoring position for Stinson. He came through to secure the win for the Ducks. Joe Mazza pitched for Rutgers but struggled, allowing three runs in his time on the mound.
