Oregon Health Plan limits out-of-state medical coverage
The Oregon Health Plan (OHP) has specific rules about coverage while traveling. It does not cover medical care received in Canada or other countries. For travel within the United States, OHP members can only receive coverage for reasonable emergency care. Visits to urgent care centers will not be covered. If you are an OHP recipient planning to travel, it’s important to know where to find emergency care in the state you are visiting. If you are unsure about your OHP benefits when you travel, you can contact your coordinated care organization (CCO) for more information. If you don’t know your CCO, you can reach out to OHP Client Services at 800-273-0557. There have been concerns about potential funding cuts for the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program. However, the Oregon WIC program is currently funded by the United States Department of Agriculture. There are no immediate worries about losing funding at this time. The WIC program has historically received strong support. For ongoing updates and information about health topics, Oregonians can check the Oregon Health Authority’s website or submit questions for broader public interest. However, the agency cannot offer personal medical advice.
