Oregon, Illinois church faces scrutiny and dwindling membership
A religious group in Oregon, Illinois, known as "The Church of Jesus Christ Forever" or "the Perfect Church," has faced scrutiny for decades. Founded by Rose Aluli, who died in 1992, the church's beliefs included the idea that she would rise from the dead. Today, the congregation has dwindled to about 30 members. After Rose's death, her husband Kale Aluli took over leadership, leading to allegations of abuse and manipulation within the church. Tensions between the church and the local community have resurfaced, particularly following a Facebook controversy in 2022 that brought former members' abuse claims to light. Despite ongoing allegations, the church has made efforts to integrate into the community, including charitable donations. However, many former members have left, and the church's influence appears to be waning as it faces increasing scrutiny from both locals and former congregants.
