Oregon State baseball loses to Cal Poly, 7-6

Oregon State University’s baseball team lost a close game to Cal Poly on Saturday, ending their 11-game winning streak. The game took place in San Luis Obispo, California, where the Beavers had a solid lead late in the game. The sixth-ranked Beavers were up by three runs after adding a run in both the eighth and ninth innings. However, Cal Poly staged a dramatic comeback in the ninth inning, scoring four runs and taking the game 7-6. Jack Collins hit a two-run homer, securing a walk-off victory for the Mustangs. Despite the loss, there were moments of success for Oregon State. Aiva Arquette hit a solo home run in the first inning, and Jacob Krieg had a strong performance with three hits and three RBIs. Dax Whitney started on the mound, helping the Beavers maintain a narrow lead through four innings. Reliever Zach Edwards struggled in the ninth, leading to the Mustangs' big rally. After a series of hits and walks, Oregon State turned to Wyatt Queen. He got close to sealing the game, but Collins' game-winning hit changed everything. Oregon State is set to face Cal Poly again on Sunday at 12:35 p.m. for the final game of the series.
