Organ age may predict dementia and cancer risk
A new study suggests that the biological age of organs may indicate the risk of diseases like cancer and dementia. Researchers analyzed blood samples from over 6,200 participants, revealing that organ aging varies among individuals. The study found that faster aging organs were linked to a higher risk of 30 out of 45 age-related diseases. Notably, the immune system's age was a better predictor of dementia than the brain's age. Researchers propose that an organ-specific blood test could help identify early disease risks, potentially guiding individuals on how to care for their organs.
