Orioles achieve first spring training no-hitter in history
In a historic moment for the Baltimore Orioles, seven pitchers combined to throw the first no-hitter in the team's spring training history. They achieved this feat during a game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, winning 4-0. The no-hitter happened on Saturday in Bradenton, Florida. Zach Eflin started the game, pitching three innings and allowing just one walk. He was followed by five relievers—Gregory Soto, Yennier Cano, Cionel Pérez, Bryan Baker, and Roansy Contreras—before Riley Cooper closed it out. This marks the first no-hitter in spring training for the Orioles. The last time any Major League Baseball team achieved this was in 2023, when the Chicago Cubs did so. Before the Orioles, the St. Louis Browns pitched a no-hitter in 1951, prior to the team's move to Baltimore. Despite the significance of the achievement, there was little celebration on the field after the last out. The players kept it low-key, choosing not to make a big fuss typical of more important games.
