Oscar Piastri wins Chinese Grand Prix, praises McLaren team
Oscar Piastri had a fantastic weekend at the Chinese Grand Prix, winning from pole position. This victory marks his third win in Formula 1, following his earlier successes in Hungary and Azerbaijan last year. The 23-year-old McLaren driver made a strong comeback after a disappointing performance in Melbourne. Piastri maintained his lead throughout the race in Shanghai. He finished nearly 10 seconds ahead of his teammate, Lando Norris, who came in second. Mercedes' George Russell took third place for the second consecutive week. Piastri's win was especially rewarding after he made a mistake in the previous race, which cost him a better finish. “This has been an incredible weekend,” Piastri said after the race. He praised his team for their hard work, adding that he felt he deserved the win after last week’s disappointment. Norris also praised Piastri for his excellent performance throughout the race. Currently, Piastri is in fourth place in the driver standings, trailing Norris by 10 points. Another Australian driver, Jack Doohan, finished 16th in the race after receiving a penalty. The drivers will take a break next weekend before competing in Japan on April 4.
