The Oudh Bar Association (OBA) has announced that all its lawyers will stop working on Tuesday. This decision comes after an incident at Vibhuti Khand police station where lawyers claim they were assaulted by police officers. The OBA is demanding action against the police and the cancellation of FIRs filed against the lawyers. During an emergency meeting on Monday, the OBA discussed the clash that occurred on March 14. Over 150 lawyers have been accused of causing disturbances, while they have also filed a counter FIR against nine police personnel, including the station house officer. The lawyers allege that they were assaulted and threatened by the police. In their resolution, the OBA condemned the police actions and called for the suspension of the officers involved. They also urged the government to implement the Advocate Protection Act to ensure the safety of lawyers in their work. OBA president RD Shahi led the meeting, and general secretary Manoj Kumar Dwivedi emphasized the importance of protecting lawyers. He announced that lawyers would protest peacefully by abstaining from all judicial work on March 18. A follow-up meeting is planned for the same day to discuss further actions with other legal associations.
